As part of the TURN8 Round 6 cohort of startups we’ve funded earlier this year, Meetizer has shown immense growth the past few months and I’m excited to be helping them during this growth phase.
Meetizer is a geolocation-based social networking app, which allows expats and travellers to connect with others by creating real-life gatherings on the go, transforming their stay into unique and unforgettable experiences while helping them expand their network abroad.
We all through those moments of being able to do more with our free time whenever we are in a different city or even a different part of the very city you live in. Especially as a traveller, you’d wish to know what people are up to around you, or better yet, if you wanted people to know you’re here (at a certain cafe perhaps) and wouldn’t mind to discuss interesting topics over a cup of coffee.
This is where Meetizer can help. Meetizer allows travelers and city dwellers to connect instantaneous by posting a ‘meet up’ publicly and describing the nature of the activity and also the time and location. This meet up post can be seen by anyone through Meetizers map of the city (it shows as small purple dots) and members can join any of them and also be part of the discussions on how the meet up is going.
The app’s beta version has been featured by Apple as ‘Best New App’ in 18 countries and has granted public and private investment by angel investors.Meetizer already has initial funding from private investors and business angels from Spain and Dubai, and is now preparing their next financial round in order to close their Pre-Series A by the end of Q2 of 2016.
